Welcome Winter 2012!
What a great summer! Long, hot, summer days were the ideal setting for events to be held outdoors, and we saw many extremely satisfied customers take advantage of this. With outdoor events on the rise, let's hope next summer is just as good. Actually the weather was amazing right into the late fall, but as always, winter has arrived and this means planning for next year's big event such as that dream wedding for you ladies. Here are some trends that are taking place in the wedding industry.
Outdoor themed weddings. Find your favourite winery and incorporate this theme into your wedding. Local wines and cheeses for the reception followed by local meats and vegetables for the main. Choose colours to match your favourite grape. Or perhaps finding a beautiful beach property and going with a nautical theme. Vintage themes are also expected to increase. Bring back the Victorian era or go with a 50's, 60's, 70's, or 80's theme.
Going green. Socially responsible weddings are on the rise. As mentioned, using local products for your food or decorations are increasing. This means sourcing out the right local caterers and decorators to make it happen.
Long tables with a family-style dinner theme. This trend lends itself to a more traditional, family meal feeling. Food is served in the middle of the table and passed among the guests. Creates and encourages conversation and a more intimate atmosphere.
Offering a variety of desserts and more elaborate late night food choices. Close to the night being over, but the party is still in full swing, guests are looking for that last "wow" food creation. A great idea is to have a BBQ offering gourmet sliders and hotdogs or a poutine station. As for the dessert table, guests are looking for that little piece of their favourite dessert to nibble on once dinner is done.
A lounge area for guests to relax in throughout the course of the evening. Couches or cruise tables with bar stools.
Textured linens and blending cutlery and plates. Our line of Bombay linens has a great pattern to add an elegant touch. The other trend is to go with two different cutlery styles and incorporating them both into the event. Same with the plates. Decorating with different heights and sizes. It is about adding a certain uniqueness to the whole event. Getting away from the standard and thinking outside of the box.
Photo booths are more popular than ever. For the budget conscious, the trend is to create your own booth, with exhibit drapery and wacky props for the guests.
